Students will be responsible for creating a model of an animal or plant cell. For a more detailed explanation of the project including examples, click here.
Students will be responsible for using a dry erase presentation board to demonstrate on one of the major processes that occur in a cell. Students should be able to accurately model the process and explain the steps that take place and the organelles involved in the process.Students will be responsible for choosing three physical traits (phenotype) and tracing their origin through surveying family members as far back as their grand parents generation. They will then use this information to create a family tree and determine genotypic trends within their family.
Students will be responsible for tracking their food intake for three weeks. Students will then analyze their eating patterns and compare them to the recommended daily intake of the major food groups.
Students will be responsible for creating a 30 second public service announcement. This public service announcement should highlight one illness that currently affects the human race, causes, possible cures, and prevention. Students will also have the opportunity create a healthy snack alternative. Students will choose their favorite snack and determine the nutritional content. They will then create a healthier alternative and bring it into class. Students should use www.calorieking.com to assist in determining the actual nutritional content of the snack that they choose to prepare.
